Pet peeves

fuye has a journal like this where she just updates it when there is something new that annoys her etc. I'll just adopt that.

:bulletwhite: 10.11.2012
I'll start off with something I was not supposed to write about, but I felt it was necessary to start with this. Which is American dates. For 10th of November 2012 I would write 10.11.2012, while in America you write 11.10.2012 ? what. why start with the month, then the day and then the year? whaaat. makes no sense. ok that's it of that.

The real pet peeve I wanted to explain is something I do myself but I don't understand it. When I constantly draw Jenna as game/movie characters. I hate it when other people do it, I see a picture as a fox with purple hair as Loki and I just want to break something. Then I draw Jen as Thor and it's supposed to be ok? Why, it makes no sense! When I see people draw their characters as movie/game characters I always think "why not just draw fanart?" but I never do that myself. I be confused.

HOWEVER This does not apply for game/movie inspired character crossovers. Like portal, since there are many test subjects. Or like star wars storm troopers.
Example, it's fine to draw your character as an assassin, as long as it's not Ezio Auditore. (but this is exactly what I do. oh the irony. I should stop.)

Just think, in the military we don't even use numbers for months. It would be 10NOV2012. I also find it odd saying stuff like the 10th of November since I'm so used to saying November 10th. I just find it easier to think of it as month/day/year. Just different means of teaching, learning, and application.

I guess, but that is the American way of saying it though xD

I can't say too much on your peeve. I'm not really a part of all too many popular fandoms that get the crossovers. Though I understand what you mean, I love bioshock and its fine to throw your character into a little sister. But if you mashed them into Andrew Ryan. WTH I DON'T THINK I CAN EVEN HANDLE THE THOUGHT!!! Just. No.

But you draw what you want for fun. You are not actually trying to be like "OMG THIS IS MY LIFES WORK!!!" I love your crossover pictures they make me giggle especially your sketches they are great!!!

Amercican dates never used to bother me. Seemed such a silly thing!!! But awhile ago now the company I work for hired a lady who recently moved from the US. She messed up all the pays!!! it was like the 10th of March or something and she wrote October 3rd. So much anger happened, I just don't understand how that goes through!!! Hurts my head so much!!! -rant rant rant-

Writing the month beforehand makes more sense to me. Wouldn't you want to know what month you're in before the day? But either way it's how we're brought up to understand those things, we write it how we would say it. :iconimsotiredplz:

I typically don't like fanart at all, I avoid it pretty much. I draw my fursona cosplaying for my ID's and stuff though, that's really as far as it gets. :iconshotcatplz:

No, because you probably already know the month- you should want to know which day in the month you already knew, then get confirmed the month you thought you knew. /shot
:iconamgplz:

What, I thought you'd be the kind to be all over fanart. Like a hungry sea lion.

What if I was talking about another month that isn't current. We write it how we say it. "Today's date is November, fifteenth two-thousand twelve." 11/18/2012

Nah. I draw it on occasion. I don't like it at all. I like seeing other people's creativity with their own characters rather than part of some fandom.

I'm kinda the same in that sort of situation.

I hate it when people say "Bless you" when I sneeze. It feels like they are specifically waiting for me to sneeze just to say those two words. Plus I don't appreciate it when they do that, but I say thanks in the end just to be nice. I'd rather people not acknowledge I've sneezed.

...Yet I say bless you when other people sneeze....
I'm the kinda person who makes big, loud sneezes.

In a sense of the word: [for Americans anyway] When someone asks "what is the date" you say November 10th if they ask for the year you say it last. Generally we write it in the order of saying it. November 10th 2012. It would also get rather confusing for those who have birthdays on 1-12 days. It's just general way of speaking of why certain things are done. It is also done other ways: day/month/year or year/month/day but most commonly used that makes sense of how someone talks is month/day/year oxo that's just for America tho, difference in countries gotta love it.

Ahhh the drawing thing is confusing. Maybe it's the style that other people draw the characters in that bug you. I don't know really xD

As for the date thing, I'm Canadian and I have trouble grasping the month/day/year thing. Here we have to do that, but I constantly catch myself writing it as day/month/year :v
so I have the opposite problem hah.

I agree with you, I don't understand why we felt the need to go using out own date order. But I suppose it's just because that's how we say it, Novenber tenth, 2012. 11-10-2012.

I'm American and I don't understand why we number our dates like that at all. It took me flipping forever to actually grasp that the month comes before the day, because for the longest time I wrote 'day/month/year'.

Pretty much 11.10.12 stands for November 10 of 2012 or November 10, 2012. We do lots of things differently from other countries. Like, take feet and inches for example. Or that we use Fahrenheit instead of Celsius. We're weird aren't we?

I'm guessing its because in America, we've condensed it to "November 10, 2012" to remove the "of". We're lazy, you know ;) So when we put the month first, that's why.

I dunno, Americans do a lot of weird things that would be easier if we just conformed to the units of the rest of the world >.>; I guess we have to be hipster haha

it's written that way because you don't say 'it's 10th november, 2012!' here, you say 'it's november 10th, 2012!' hence why it's written that way.. to us 'americans' it makes perfect sense, really. :>

Since it's more logic to put day - month day
since day is shorter than month and month is shorter than year but longer than day. I dunno
